Divana Spa has several branches. I only went to one, so I will be reviewing their Divana Scentuara Spa in Bangkok Thailand, and the spa service that I received was called their Spa Scentura Prestige program. This was part of their Spa Treatments/Full Day Spa. So to find this treatment you would have search their website, or contact their Divana Scentuara Spa branch. This particular spa package didn’t seem offered other branches. Hope I’m not wrong on that, but this branch’s name indicates that they specialize and offer products with their spa services centered on different scents that have different affects on their clients. Aromatherapy.

Spa Scentura Prestige
240 minutes (4 hours)
l’m not listing the price, because their prices might change over time, and I don’t want to have out of date info. on my blog post. Let’s just say compared to other spas in Thailand this massage service may seem expensive, but this was 4 hours of treatments at a beautiful luxury spa, with snacks and a full lunch included. I can’t even imagine how much this would have cost me in the U.S. So this treatment in Thailand cost a fraction of what I would have to pay back home for similar experience and number of spa services. So this was a bargain in my books, and at the end I tipped my massage therapist well.

Well, let’s just say, I consider myself a seasoned spa goer (or professional massage recipient). I’ve had spa treatments in Nova Scotia (my first Basalt Stone massage. I’ve had massages on cruise ships. I’ve even had a massage after a traditional Turkish Bath at one of the oldest Turkish baths in Istanbul, Turkey. I’ve had Swedish massages, and Russian massages. And back home, I have been going to a Thai massage place for a few years. I probably have had at least 300 massages. That is approximately receiving at least 10 massages a year for the last 30 years or more. And that is being conservative. So this review is not from someone who has never had a massage or this is only my 5th massage or something. I sort of consider myself a massage connoisseur, if that doesn’t make me sound pretentious. Well, I did basically book an over 21 day vacation in Thailand to basically experience authentic Thai massage. Not that the place that I go to in my town, which is owned by Thai lady isn’t wonderful.

Well, hope that gets my qualification out of the way to write this review.

Well, they had me at the refreshing cold rose tea. It was love. I started to call this blog article/review “Queen for a Day”. The place where I go back home also makes a great tea. But theirs’ is a hot lemon grass tea that they serve at the end.

Next you got to choose for your homemade mud, which scent you liked. I choose a fruitier scent. The all smelled great.

Then you get to select from different aromatherapy oils that they will be using to put on your body. I choose the Lemongrass scented one. It was supposed to provide calm and balance. Others I could have chosen were for dry skin, or one was for its antioxidants, and one was to give you a whiter (or lighter) complexion. Definitely didn’t want to go for that one.

Upon entering you are asked to remove your shoes, as expected a Thai tradition. They put them away for you, and give you guest spa slippers to use during your stay right at the front mat after you enter. I tried to remember not to step directly on the door threshold, but to step over it which I read was the proper way.

Just a bit of advice, I know sometimes you can find excursions or deals for spa services through third-party websites where you can book other excursions. You might save a little bit. I noticed that they had a package similar to the one I had on one of those sites, it just few bucks cheaper, but I noticed that it was for a shorter duration (3 hrs instead of 4 hrs). I didn’t book through them, and I would not recommend booking a massage through a 3rd party. Here is why, the third-party site usually gives you the option to Reserve Now and Pay Later. However, this spa stated that your booking is not considered “confirmed” (or locked in) until they receive the money for the booking. So I decided to book directly from Divana’s website. I just went to the correct branch, and then selected my spa service. They take the payment at the time of booking. I knew my time in Bangkok would be limited, and I didn’t want to take the chance of me showing up and they hadn’t received the money from a third-party, or someone who paid directly got the date/time slot I wanted. So my advice is to book directly with the spa, so you will be assured they will know who you are and expect you upon your spa date. My check-in was seamless, and they quickly located my reservation as soon as I told them my name.

Well, they had me at offering me the delicious and refreshing cool rose tea that was so beautifully presented. I will soon learn that often things served hot back home in the states (like tea at a spa), are served cold in Thailand. I guess to let you escape from the warm weather.

After check-in, and you have had your rose tea, you are led to your massage room where all your spa service will take place. It has your massage table, shower, restroom (water closet), big porcelain Japanese style (or maybe they were Thai soaking tubs) near the window that faces a pretty stone privacy wall.

Well, this was one of the best spa services and thorough facials that I have ever experienced. They started with the foot bath and included a salt foot and leg scrub.

Next came a light snack of banana and yogurt and hot tea.

Then came the brushing my body front and back with a stiff brush and I think it was a rose oil. It was a very light brushing. Then you sit in a steam shower (within your room, you don’t need to leave the room until you all finished). Think I was in the steam shower/room for about 15 minutes. The oil makes your body feel so wonderful.

Next came the mud mask all over your body massaged into your skin. This was new to me. After staying under the sheet to let this get into your skin. This gets a little sticky as they do this on the massage table as they remove your limb (from under the sheet) they are working on, then they return it to be back under the sheet. For this, I recommend you use the disposable black underwear that they give you. Otherwise your underwear would get all this mud stuff on it. You then shower this off using the shower in your room.

Next is the Milk and Rose petals bath. This made me feel like I was Cleopatra. I rubbed the rose petals into my skin (arms and legs). I felt so pampered. It was just hot enough to take all your worries away, if you had any.

During all my massage services, I tried to practice being present [appreciating the moment, the sounds (soft music), and the smells (the aromatherapy oils, mud, etc.)] and not thinking about the past, or the future. Like the Buddhist teach.

My manicured red nail polished toes sticking out of the soaker tub of milk and rose petals.
Yes, these are my toes sticking out of the tub. I probably wasn’t living in the moment (present) when I got out of the tub to get my camera, thinking this would make a great photo for this blog post reviewing this spa. Bad Buddhist.

After the marvelous milk bath, next was back on the table and I got my full body massage from head to toe, followed by an amazing facial. At one time during the facial my massage therapist placed ice cold wash clothes on my face. It was so refreshing. That face massage lasted an hour. I didn’t know you could do that much to your face or put on so many creams and moisturizers.

Somewhere along the way I received a scalp massage, and also an intense neck and shoulder massage that I sat on the side of the table to receive.

It was all so wonderful. I know my description seems all over the place. All I have to say, is that you should just come here and try it. Or if you are visiting and in the area, and you are looking for a great place to get a luxury spa treatment…. you need to come here. Tell them Rosita sent you.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Then after the massage services were over, since I did the Full Spa Day program, they served me a nice Thai lunch.

3 Thoughts on “My Review of Divana Scentuara Spa in Bangkok, Thailand

That sounds wonderful and you fully explained your full spa experience. I liked how at the beginning you shared the number and different types and places you have had spas. Someone who clearly can give a review and pass it on to others.

  2. How much was it?

    • Sorry, just noticed your question. For the 4 hours of spa treatments that included some snacks and a very nice lunch afterwards, the cost was $180 USD, which I thought was very cheap for all the services that I got. During that trip to Thailand I got several massages for around $9/hr., and one in Chiang Mai for just $3/hr. And I had another hour or 1 1/2hr massage at a luxury spa (Oasis Spa in Chiang Mai). But this treatment at Divana Spa was the best spa experience that I’ve ever had. And I’ve had massages in Italy, at a Turkish Bath in Istanbul, on the beach of a private island in Cozumel, in Nova Scotia, and on cruise ships overlooking the ocean. If that package of massage services would have been at a fancy spa in the US, it would have cost at least $700 or $800.
